Metal interiors: Like industrial fridges used by restaurants, stainless steel is superior when it comes to resilience, resisting unwanted microorganisms and sustaining an unvarying temperature in each section.
Drawers with climate controls: These handy compartments are great for keeping items that have their own storage requirements. Leafy greens such as kale, spinach, watercress and lettuce need humidity to stay fresh. A drawer designed for fruits will increase their longevity, and raw fish and shellfish should be stored at no higher than 40 degrees.
Colorful exteriors: If you don’t want to go with silver stainless steel, which is the most popular, consider black stainless steel or matte neutral. Fridges with bright colors are on the rise. Modern fridges with lively vintage designs are well known for their vivid hues. You can even make it your kitchen’s largest focal point.
A dual cooling system: A refrigerator with a compressor and evaporator for the refrigerator section and another compressor and evaporator for the freezer section maintains proper humidity levels and temperatures for each environment. Food stays fresher longer in cool and moist air, while frozen fare remains frigid and dry. You can say farewell to freezer burn because it doesn’t pick up humidity from the more-temperate section.
Air-purification filters: Foods on their last legs when it comes to edibility give off ethylene gas. The filters remove the unpleasant gas so it doesn’t contaminate the rest of the food.
Cabinet-panel-ready models: A panel-ready refrigerator is prepared to accept a custom-cabinet panel to cover that will blend seamlessly with the surrounding cabinetry. They’re usually in larger models with side-by-side or French doors. Some panel-readies even have push-open doors so the fridge seamlessly blends with kitchens whose cabinets have no handles.
