A lot of thought, decisions and work go into remodeling a bathroom. Unless you’ve been through it many times, you’ll discover that the devil is in the details. Prepare for your project well so you’re not forced to leap over any stumbling blocks.
If you’re a Manhattanite and want to remodel your kitchen or bathroom(s), come to Valley Design Center. We’ve got everything you need: expert advice, creative ideas, professional interior designers, construction services, appliances from superior brands, tile, counters, cabinets, lighting and plumbing fixtures.
Calculate a financial plan.
Figure out how much money you have to work with, if your plans coincide with your budget and if you want to spend big on a particular feature—say, a shower with a spa-like vibe—and use the remaining money for everything else.
Don’t showcase a loo.
Will the commode be in plain sight? Though it’s a component of all bathrooms, it’s not the most charming first feature to behold while passing by your restroom when its door is open. Draw attention to an attractive highlight, such as a lovely lighting fixture or an attractive decorative piece.
Think sink.
Many modern bathroom sinks rest on counter surfaces or are partially recessed. They are called vessel sinks and perfect focal points for powder rooms and eye-catching touches for master baths. Typical countertops are 32 to 34 inches high. If you want a sink that’s not flush with the counter surface, lower the counter’s height so you won’t strain yourself while shaving, washing your hands and brushing your teeth.
Dump the tub.
If you never take a bath, why let a bathtub waste valuable space when you need only a shower stall? It will leave more room for other features, whether they be necessities or decorative items.
How about a corner sink?
It’s perfect for a small powder room or a full bathroom with limited space.
Get exhausted.
A venting fan that shoots the moisture outside is helpful, but you can’t beat the benefits of cross ventilation. Stagnant air promotes mold and mildew on tile, shower curtains and grout. There’s no “fun” in fungi.
