You face oodles of decisions when choosing what to include in your soon-to-be-remodeled kitchen. Some things are obvious—a refrigerator, stove and sink (duh…)—while other features are must-haves that you might not realize you must have!
Erudite New Yorkers use Valley Design Center for their kitchen and bathroom renovations because they know we’ll meet or exceed their high expectations. All of us who work here “know our audience.” We appreciate that our customers are discerning and stylish, which is why we boast excellent products and services.
For a kitchen with panache, include these design features.
Layered lighting
Many tasks are performed in a busy kitchen, and some tasks have specific illumination needs. At the same time, mood lighting can create one or more atmospheres. A variety of lighting and multiple fixtures can together suit all areas. Recessed ceiling lights provide pleasant ambient light, spotlights brighten key workstations such as the sink and range, natural light is perfect for a breakfast nook, while pendant lights complement a peninsula or island. Under-cabinet lights assist with food prep, and installed light strips under the base cabinets ensure a safe path for anyone padding in and out in the middle of the night.
Exceptional cooking equipment
A kitchen is meant for cooking. Outstanding culinary appliances—the oven, cooktop, fridge, microwave, air fryer, mixer, etc.—affect how much time and effort are needed for your culinary endeavors, as well as the quality of your outcomes. Quality manual tools are just as imperative for the same reasons.
An island
We’re not talking about a mere butcher block. They can offer so much: storage drawers, electrical outlets, an extra sink, a place for folks to gather, additional counter space, and spots for dining, doing homework, and resting places for hot crockpots, pots and pans.
A custom vent hood
Besides being functional—sucking up grease, steam and cooking odors—it’s also a visually pleasing focal point at or right above eye level. Its surface color or material can match or complement the cabinetry, floor, major appliances, counters or major appliances. You can add handy details (lights, an exhaust-fan timer, various fan speeds) and choose from enough shapes and styles to make your head spin. Tuscan, bell curve, Craftsman, Arcadian, ballast, farmhouse and canopy are just a few.
Make an appointment or drop by our gorgeous showroom. It’s right in midtown! We’ll be more than happy to guide you around or, if you prefer, leave you alone to browse. Let Valley Design Center help you make your renovation dream come true.
